Personal
Anthony Portantino came to California to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. He was elected to the La Cañada Flintridge City Council with 71% of the vote in 1999, receiving more votes than any other candidate in the history of La Cañada Flintridge City Council elections. Anthony was re-elected to the City Council in March of 2003. Assemblymember Portantino and former Assemblymember Carol Liu are the only Democrats to ever hold the office of Mayor in the heavily Republican city. He is married to Ellen Portantino, a successfully businessperson. They are the proud parents of Sofia and Bella Rose. Both girls attend public school. Away from work and public service, Anthony enjoys watching classic movies with his family, refereeing soccer games for AYSO, scorekeeping his daughter's softball team and being a Girl Scout dad. |
