***MEDIA ALERT -- STATE LEGISLATORS TAKE OUT-OF-THIS-WORLD TOUR OF JPL***
WHO: Meeting with JPL scientists and engineers, 19 California state legislators and their staff will experience what it’s like to drive on Mars; watch a demonstration of a new rover that might go to the moon; and learn how future spacecraft will fly in formation to find Earth-like planets outside our solar system.
WHAT: The one-day visit to NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory is meant to acquaint state legislators with science and technology achievements that are taking place today. In addition to several demonstrations, the group will take a virtual tour of the planets created from images returned from several NASA-JPL missions, and see the Sun in 3-D. The director of JPL’s Earth Science and Technology Directorate, Diane Evans, will address the group on JPL’s role in climate studies and global change research.

WHERE: NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. JPL is located off the Oak Grove Drive exit of the 210 (Foothill) Freeway. Visitor parking is to the left (west) of the JPL main guard gate, across the street from the JPL Visitor Center.
