ASSEMBLYMEMBER PORTANTINO TO HOLD DISCUSSION ON THE STATEíS

PROPOSED BUDGET ON PUBLIC EDUCATION

WHO: Assemblymember Anthony Portantino invites public education advocates including parents,

teachers, school board members, school administrators and personnel to discuss legislative

perspectives on the budget and the current status of the process. Mr. Ron Bennett, President

and CEO of School Services of California, Inc. will join the discussion to offer his

perspectives and suggestions for local advocates.

WHAT: Public Education is a vital investment that we should be making on behalf of our children

and future generations of children, as well as for the health of the stateís future workforce

and economy. This forum will provide information about the proposed state budget and how

it will effect public education. Additionally, it will provide suggestions on what topics

advocates should be focusing and how efforts could be coordinated and will allow

advocates from across the 44th Assembly District to share their past efforts and discuss

possible future collaborations.
